The original rapid test to detect premature rupture of fetal membranes.
Actim Prom is an immunochromatographic dipstick test based on monoclonal antibodies detecting IGFBP-1 from amniotic fluid. Several studies have shown that the diagnosis of PROM by detection of IGFBP-1 is the most reliable method. It is certainly superior to chemical, clinical and other immunological methods available today.
According to the German Association of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, "a diagnosis of membrane rupture should be made using the PROM test". Actim Prom has, therefore, a definitive chance of becoming the 'golden standard' of testing for PROM. Many other research groups have reached similar conclusions as well.
